"Us vs. Them" is a horrible problem and one that is difficult to avoid. One type stems from working with, or for, a company that a person spent their career competing against. That is a difficult mind set to overcome. Another instance is when it is known from the re-organization that some people in similar positions may become redundant or re-assigned to what, in their mind, is a less desirable position. It is not possible to overcommunicate, but M&A is a breeding ground for rumors.

Cultures That Repel Talent in M&A
Mergers and acquisitions aren't just about financials and strategy-they're about people. And nothing sends top talent running faster than a culture that feels toxic, uncertain, or dismissive of employees' experiences.
🔹 Lack of Transparency – When communication is vague or inconsistent, employees lose trust and start looking for the exit.
🔹 "Us vs. Them" Mentality – If one culture dominates while the other is sidelined, engagement plummets.
🔹 No Clear Future – Without a vision for employees' growth post-merger, they'll create their own-and it may not include your company.
Culture can attract or repel talent. What have you seen make the difference?
