In about half of my M&A efforts, the acquiring company assigned an Attorney to the Team. I have found that extremely helpful understanding the HR implications, UNION contracts and external requirements/restrictions.  I would like to see that as a common practice.  It helps keep the process moving and avoids backtracking.  They are also helpful of informing when we need to begin preparing for an issue so that we give it enough time.  They really are essential in my view when dealing with a unionized work force.  What are your thoughts and experiences.?  I have not found this to be as common a practice as you might expect.  Huge corporate mergers handle most legal items out of sight of the team.   It's the small to medium sized efforts where I find it helpful
