You've confirmed what I was thinking which is... while AI may be able to summarize documents, there is no way to get around opening each file to see what you can find because AI may not properly interpret information or know what is important to you. As I open each file, I make notes in the integration playbook I created for that specific acquisition of things to follow up on. While this takes time, upon Close, the acquired employees greatly appreciate the prep work I've done so we can hit the ground running with integration planning. I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing the mark.

I've used AI tools- ChatGPT and Copilot- and I'm happy to share a few observations.
Time savings:
AI can accelerate the initial review and synthesis of large volumes of documents. To me, it's effective for summarizing and recognizing key themes. It can reduce review time, often via streamlining what would otherwise be hours of manual scanning. With that said, I always review because AI lacks the human element in what is being presented and can interpret it incorrectly.
Accuracy and quality considerations:
While AI is strong at summarizing and obtaining insights, it can't replace human decision-making. There can be misreadings or oversimplifications. A human "review and validate" step is still essential to guarantee completeness and accuracy.
Security considerations:
I use AI environments with caution when sharing sensitive or confidential information, especially with public tools. We have approved tools and comply with data privacy policies.
AI can meaningfully improve review efficiency when used with appropriate human validation and secure management methods. I would appreciate to hear how others are using AI.
