In Frank Gorman's post to 4. RE: Activating Change Management - When Should You? When Do You? How Do You Address Any Gap? (Mergers & Acquisitions), he said to, "emphasize to the principals with knowledge of the impending possible deal that CM will need to be active the day the deal is announced". This prompted a question that I'd love to get your input on. Relative to Close, when do you plan communication about what your company has to offer the newly acquired employees?
We purposefully do little on Day 1 after the sellers announce that the company has been sold. People can have highly emotional responses and are not in a position to absorb information. I'd argue that the same could be true on Day 2 through… any arbitrary date, but at some point we need to provide information to those who are ready to move on. What standard timeline have you established to share information including orientation (company history, mission, values, products, financial performance, strategic plan), benefits, and introduction to their new IT environment?
