How to: Manage My Community Notifications

By Alisa Allen-Barzano posted 5 days ago

One of the most convenient features of ACMP® Connect is that it gives you the ability to keep tabs on what's happening within the community, even if you can't visit the site every day.  Using the Community Notifications features, you're able to have real-time notifications or daily summaries of ACMP Connect activity delivered to your email inbox.

This post will help you understand the various options you have for receiving email notifications from your ACMP Connect communities, including:

  • Default Notification Settings
  • Joining New Communities
  • Help! I’m receiving too many emails!

Default Notification Settings

By default, everyone that is a member of ACMP is subscribed to the All Member Connect community with a Consolidated Daily Digest email subscription type.  What this means is that, once a day, you’ll receive an email from the All Member Connect community containing all the discussion posts that were added to that community in the last day.  Additionally, if you’ve selected a default chapter on your ACMP membership profile, you’ll be added to that chapter’s community (if available) with a Consolidated Daily Digest subscription.  Activity updates from both the All Member Connect community and your chapter community will be delivered in a single email.

Here’s an example of a Consolidated Daily Digest email:

Joining New Communities

In addition to the All Member Connect community, you are encouraged to explore the other communities available within ACMP Connect and join those that are of interest to you.  The list of communities available can be found by navigating to Communities > All Communities.  When you see a community in which you’d like to participate, simply press the Join button.

Upon doing so, you’ll be prompted to select your preferred community notification setting for this community.  To include this community’s activity in your Consolidated Daily Digest (the daily email notification you receive from the All Member Connect community), choose ‘Include’ under Consolidated Daily Digest and choose ‘I would like to opt-out of receiving email notifications’ under Discussion Digest.  Tap the Yes join the community button.

Selecting the email notification options shown above will streamline your ACMP Connect email experience by including activity updates from all of your communities in a single daily email.

Help! I’m receiving too many emails!

If you find that you are receiving too many emails from ACMP Connect, you can adjust your Email Notification (subscription) settings at any time!

To adjust your community notification settings, choose Adjust My Subscription Settings from the Quick Links widget on the home page.

Under Notification Settings, you’ll see all of the communities of which you’re currently a member.  All communities with a check mark and yellow shading in the Consolidated Daily Digest column will be included in your daily email described above (be sure ‘No Email’ is also selected in the Discussion Email column to avoid duplicate updates from communities).

While there is also a Consolidated Weekly Digest option, this is not a recommended setting.  Conversations are dynamic and happen quickly, and a discussion thread may have lost its participants’ attention after a week has passed.  However, if you find you’re just receiving too many emails, this is always an option.

You can adjust your community notification settings at any time by using the Adjust My Subscription Settings from the Quick Links widget on the home page, or at Customize My Profile > My Account > Community Notifications.
